A NOTE FROM JOHN
Hi RP Family!

Spending much time with the Minor Prophets lately?? Well, if you are joining us at Park Rogers Park this Sunday, you will be, starting this weekend as we hit pause on our Luke sermon series and dive into our Summer sermon series exploring all 12 books of the Minor Prophets!

Those of us who are lovers of God's Word (I pray that is you) can find much to take from these books. No doubt, you may come across names like Amos and Obadiah and might not recall hardly anything that God divinely inspired them to write about. And, the fact that we label them 'Minor' may sometimes deter us from paying them much attention. But, here's an important tidbit to know - the reason the Minor Prophets are labeled 'Minor' is primarily because of the the length of the books! These 12 prophets were not less important than the 'Major' prophets like Daniel and Isaiah who wrote longer books. Rather, within the Minor Prophets we encounter striking opportunities to expand our view of who God is. Sure, we'll find strange and challenging portions of Scripture at times. But, undoubtedly we'll find some fun ones too - like Jonah and the big fish!

For your reference, these are the 12 books of the Minor Prophets in order found in our Bibles and the Sunday teaching schedule:

Hosea
Joel
Amos
Obadiah
Jonah
Micah
Nahum
Habakkuk
Zephaniah
Haggai
Zechariah
Malachi

Almost all of these books are at least several chapters long, but we're obviously going to do a condensed exploration of each book every Sunday, looking at the most prevalent themes that grant us a larger view of God's character and his plan for the world. Looking forward to starting this Summer series, as Phil kicks off Hosea for us this Sunday!

Also, Members, we have our next Members Meeting this Sunday!! There will be plenty of snacks for adults and children, and we'll play a movie for the children in the Library. This is our last Members Meeting until the Fall, so please attend to hear RP's latest updates and hear more about RP Summer rhythms as we continue to engage in the work of the church!

Warmly,
John, Associate Pastor RP

Serving at Park-RP

When you join a serving team, you're not just volunteering; you're becoming an integral part of our church family. It's where friendships begin, where commitment is strengthened, and where you will truly start to feel like you belong.

Giving at Park-RP

We believe that giving is an act of worship. It recognizes God as the owner and source of all we have. It is our cheerful response to God in praise of His radical generosity towards us.

Neighborhood Partners

Collaboration allows us to leverage our strengths, compensate for our weaknesses, and reach areas and demographics of our city that might otherwise remain untouched.

Note for Elementary kids parents: As we look to the summer schedule for our RP Kids ministry, we have prayerfully decided to give our Elementary kids the opportunity to remain in service once a month on the following dates:
5/26/2024
6/16/2024
7/14/2024
8/11/2024
We hope and pray this will give our Elementary kids a great experience of being a part of our wider church family. It will also mean that our RP Kids ministry team will not be asked to serve twice a month throughout the summer as we have a reduced number of team members. We appreciate your understanding and are happy to discuss this further if helpful!

If you have recently joined our church or have a new child please register them here.
