RP - Weekly, August 9th

A NOTE FROM PHIL
Happy Friday, RP!

Every week now we are getting closer to the end of the Summer months and our rhythms of outreach and presence in the neighborhood! The accumulative effect of 'Soccer Camp', 'Night Church', 'Baptisms at Montrose', 'Park in the Park', 'Shalom North Side' gets we excited to think of all the gospel seeds sown - words offered of encouragement, welcome, prayer; and invitation to consider Christ! Let's be praying that Christ uses what has been offered to draw many lives to himself!

This Sunday (August 11th) we have our second to last 'Park in the Park' in Loyola Park at 3pm - come on out for a great time of fun together and the opportunity to get to welcome and get to know our neighbors! These times together have been some of the highlights of my summer!

NEXT WEEKEND, on Saturday (Aug 17th) will the fourth year of 'THE GREAT GIVE AWAY', an afternoon organised as a celebration to love and encourage the young people of Rogers Park! If you would like to know more details or have the capacity to help reach out directly to Adam Pennington (pennington12@gmail.com).

Finally,  reading this article this week reminded me of the great work of those at RP and  across Chicago who are engaged in College Ministry (and nice to see our own Jamie Borchik getting a shout out!) - lets' remember to be voices of encouragement and prayer for those serving Christ amidst the hard soil of Chicago's college campuses, particularly at LOYOLA and NORTHWESTERN here on the far north side.

Grateful,

Phil

Upcoming

Serving at Park-RP

When you join a serving team, you're not just volunteering; you're becoming an integral part of our church family. It's where friendships begin, where commitment is strengthened, and where you will truly start to feel like you belong.

Giving at Park-RP

We believe that giving is an act of worship. It recognizes God as the owner and source of all we have. It is our cheerful response to God in praise of His radical generosity towards us.

Neighborhood Partners

Collaboration allows us to leverage our strengths, compensate for our weaknesses, and reach areas and demographics of our city that might otherwise remain untouched.

Children's Ministry Update

RP Kids August Plan and Curriculum:
Monthly Memory Verse: Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)

SESSION 1 (8/4): The Great Commission (Matthew 28: 16-20)
SESSION 2 (8/11):  God's Gospel Plan (Romans 10:9-15)
Note No Elementary class
SESSION 3 (8/18): How to share the Gospel (Colossians 4:2-6)
** 8/25 Northside Shalom service at Warren Park **

Note for Elementary kids parents: As we look to the summer schedule for our RP Kids ministry, we have prayerfully decided to give our Elementary kids the opportunity to remain in service once a month. The final date for this will be 8/11/2024. We hope and pray this will give our Elementary kids a great experience of being a part of our wider church family. It will also mean that our RP Kids ministry team will not be asked to serve twice a month throughout the summer as we have a reduced number of team members. We appreciate your understanding and are happy to discuss this further if helpful!

If you have recently joined our church or have a new child please register them here.
